Anywho, my friend came over and wanted to do something to my car (he's really really really into modding cars), so I wouldn't let him near anything interior. He finally settled on painting my engine covers, and I think he did a nice job.



I noticed the overspray in the picture, we are going to paint that a flat black and paint the rings and the 5V turbo white.

Any thoughts on this?

 

It looks like you guys know what you are doing so keep up the good work. The only thing I would worry about, if you have not thought about it already, is to use high temperature paint on anything that can get over 400F. The last thing you need is a flash fire under your hood, or for the paint to just peel off. Again, it looks like you guys have everything covered already...just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents

We're using Engine Enamel paint. It's rated up to 500 degrees F. I forgot to mention my friend is OCD/ADD/OMGWTFCRAZY when it comes to safety and cleanliness, so he kicked himself over and over for the overspray.

 

lol On projects like this, a little OCD can go a long way. Too many DIY refinishers and even some bodyshops are too lazy and take too many shortcuts. Its the OCD bodyman that will end up in a high quality shop refinishing corvettes while the shortcut guy will end up in a chop shop doing hack jobs.

i painted mine as well. However, i had nicks and dings all over. One of the corners was broke off. So, i came up with a simple solution. I wish i would have taken pics to post, but heres what you do. The super glue and fill in any holes/cracks. Sand it down with a very fine-grain sand paper and go from there. After i got it primed/painted/enameld, it looks hot!
