Default Nitrogen in wheels?

Ive heard of nitrogen being used to inflate high performance tires. What is the advantage of using nitrogen? and where exactly does one fill up their tires on nitrogen? i know my local Exxon only pumps regular air.

I'm not sure what it does, but I was at the jack Daniels service center and they offer it there.

Keeps the tires cooler in high stress conditions but not by much as in you probably wont notice on the street. and nitrogen is lighter then air so it decreases the un-sprung weight on your car basically like riding on helium balloons btw ive seen helium used in tires aswell

That's basically the best answer you're going to get

One of the magazines I subscribe to did an editorial on this. Very informative read. I'll scan it up as soon as I can, at work right meow.

basically, if the shop you get the tires mounted at offers it for free, go for it, but if they want to charge like 2$ a tire...tell them to forget it.
it make the tires lighter, by a few ounces, if you are worried about a few ounces on each tire, just remove any useless weight inside the car, go on a diet, remove the backseat, take our subs (thats a good weight reduction) etc.
i had nitrogen in my old car tires, made NO difference....
my $0.02

From what I've heard, filling tires with nitrogen also reduces how much your tire pressure changes with the weather. You won't lose as much when the weather gets cold.
