i have a 97 a4 i want to upgrade the headlights what kind should i get and is it a pain in the *** to put the upgraded hlights in?

 

The 1997 still has the two-piece headlights. There are two-piece projector which are direct replacements.

However, there are also the one piece headlights (the ones on 1999.5-2001.5 B5). These particular headlights will need some minor cutting on your fenders since you have the pre-facelift.
