Hi guys, I am new on these forums, you guys seem to really know your audi's, i hope someone can help me on my issue.

I have a 1997 Audi A4 1.8L Quatro (I don't know if its a turbo or not). Everytime im stoped at a stop light and pressing on the break the car steering wheel shakes fairly roughly. It does not shake when im on park, it only shakes when im on drive or reverse while pressing the breaks. Can someone give me a list of possible issues that could cause this and how i could troubleshoot to find out exactly what it is? I am a fast learner and am more than willing to try the DIY methods (also because im a college student and don't have much money to spare for a mechanic)

The shaking while stoped thing has been going on for months...but last night when i was driving home from college the car was acting very weird. It would accelerate VERY slowly, it was very hard for me to get up to speed with traffic after stopping at a light. I think it was shaking a bit, even when i wasnt stoped, it was shaking slightly as i was driving. The CEL light was blinking (my CEL has always been on, this was the first time it was blinking). I safely made it home and decided to ask my friend for a ride this morning because i was scared to drive my audi.

If someone call tell me how to troubleshoot these two issues i would forever be indepted to you. I am a fast learner and really willing to try to troubleshoot and maybe fix this myself, however as i am a noob with cars, if a mechanic is absolutely needed then i guess ill just have to pay.
