Default 1998 A4 bad spindle bearings how do I know if 75mm or 82mm ???

I have my buddy's 1998 A4 in my shop and the bearings inside the passenger front spindle assy are totally shot. I want to order a used set up but there's two different bearing sizes available 75mm and 82mm. How can I tell which without totally breaking everything down and specing everything out with a caliper ?? I have the vin if that helps.
