Hello to the board!

I have a 1999 A4 Quattro with the V6. My exhaust system sounds like it has a major leak. The exhaust looks fine.

The leak sounds like it is coming from the engine.

My question:

Is it a converter leak or an exhaust manifold?

What is the degree of difficulty to repair?

none of us will be able to tell what the problem is without actually looking at and diagnosing your car. If you do have a link and if you are already asking this question, you are more than likely better off taking it to a mechanic. If you are not mechanically inclined enough to figure out where the leak is coming from, don't risk trying to repair it yourself. Take it to a shop and atleast have them diagnose it. Then if you feel it is something you can repair do it, but only if you are certain you are going to be able to repair it.
