I transmission went out on my 99 A8 Quattro. The estimate to have it rebuilt, with torq convertor, is $6700. For those of you who are experienced in this sort of thing, is that reasonable? It will have a 2 year, parts and labor, warranty. I would appreciate any information any of you can offer. It's a great car in good shape, including the engine and I would hate to part with it.

 

That's a lot of $$ for a 99. Is that a dealer? Have you tired getting one from salvage company? It's well worth looking.

 

Wow, that seems high considering I just bought a 2004 a4 quattro for $8500!

 

Did you find your transmission replacement. I have a 2000 A8 tran on a parts car I have. Engine ingested water but tran is good.
