i have just bought an A3 with auto transmission now usually with auto cars you can feel the gear change but when in drive it will not move through the gears as it should and goes straight to 3rd and stays there unless i manually change the gears as you can imagine it's drinking the fuel and i'm worried i'll do further damage. i am not mechanically minded and have no clue what the problem is. other than that it is the nicest car i have ever driven any help you guys can offer is greatly appreciated.
