Default 2000 A6 2.7T gauges not working

i have a 2000 audi A6 2.7T 6SPD. i just rebuilt the front end, and the dash gauges aren't working. none of them. speed, tach, fuel, ect ect. my DIC doesn't power up and my milage doesn't show. my warning lights do work. all other controls work. just no gauges. i checked the instrument cluster fuse and it looked fine. i changed it with the spare anyway and there is no difference.

i know the gauges were working after the deer strike. the only thing i can think of is i removed the radio about 6 months ago. would the radio not being plugged in cause the gauges to stop working?

well i plugged my radio in today. still no gauges. =/. does the body computer control the gauges and the pcm controls the lights or something?? my only other thought might be a rodent got into it while it was being stored in the garage and chewed on wires, but i have no blown fuses... surely i'm not the only person this has happened to...
