Hi,

Summary: 2002 1.8 TT Quattro, key just spins in door lock and battery is dead so cant use fob.

First post here and just wondering if anyone can help, I've searched all over the internet but haven't found anyone with the same issue.

I've just returned from Thailand for 3 months and my friend was to keep my car ticking over, he didn't do a good job and the battery has died. So now I can't use the central locking key fob to unlock the car. So I tried using the key in the doors, however when I turn the key in either of the doors it just spins constantly as if it cannot catch the lock. So right now I have no way of getting into the car. I'm considering phoning a lock smith but just thought I'd try here first incase I'm missing the obvious. It just seems strange that both locks decided to do this at the same time when they both used to work perfectly.
