I have a 1991 V8 Quattro 3.6 L with a automatic transmission. The trans is stuck in "safe mode" or limp mode, only runs in 3rd gear and reverse. This happened while I was "toying" with the trans in manual shift mode, STUPID. I was told it could possibly be cleared out of the trans control unit, so I replaced the unit, but same situation. Audi wants an arm and a leg just to diagnose, Gold knows what it would take them to fix. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
