Default 98 Cabriolet Trunk

Just bought a 98 Cab, and I can't get in the trunk. The keys and remote work fine on the Anti-theft system. the key also turns the trunk lock clockwise, but it will only go counterclockwise enough to disarm the Alarm. Took it to a local dealer, and after everyone looked it over, their Cabrio guru said that one of the little plastic arms inside had probably come loose from the lock mechanism.

Makes sense to me - that would explain all the trouble. So here's the dilemma - there's no internal trunk release on the Cabriolet. The lock pushbutton won't work, so I can't get in that way. the only way left in is to go through the back seat and try to release it that way.

So how do I get the back seat out? The ski sleeve has a lip that's bigger than the seat opening, and I can see no way to get the seatback off.

Need to solve this quickly, as I have to take this on a 400 mile drive next week and I don't want to be driving without access to a spare. Heeeeelp!!
