Hi all, got a major problem with my ladies A4. The best way I can describe the fault, is similar to a power loss and chugging that you used to get with the old type of mechanical fuel pump when a valve had gone.

The car on acceleration acts like its being starved of fuel and chuggs along then recovers then chugs etc etc. It is worse when you try to put your foot down and better if you try to drive like a pensioner in slow motion. I have changed sparks, leads, air filter, fuel filter but still the same. I would estimate power to be 50% less than it should be and overtaking is a no no.
Sometimes also it starts fine, other times it starts and dies straight away.

Prior to all of this it did have to be jump started several times as it had stood for a year.
Now it is in regular use, have also tried 2 lots of injector cleaners and now the wife wants a new car or I go lol
I still want to fix it but desperately need some help.
Any ideas????

First off make sure there is not boost leaks. Then I would check the coolant temp sensor (for the ECU).
After that, check the cam position sensor.
