Default a4 1.8 timing belt question

hey im looking into purchasing a particular a4 with 102XXX miles on it. the owner purchased it at 82XXX and has not done the timing belt....and he has NO IDEA...if the previous owner replaced it or not. is there a way to check to see if its been done? or should i just go ahead and get it done?

if it was brought to audi you could ask them to look up your vin other than that just get it done its better safe than sorry. also you could look at it. its in the front of the engine with a plastic cover there is one clip on each side of it that you can release and pul back to have a look see.

if your planning on having someone do it for you its roughly a 700-800$ job if you want audi to do it your rich
