A4 1.9TDi cutting out!!!
Hi, I have recently bought an AUDI 1.9TDi 110 bhp model year 1997. I have realised that under load (ie:- in excess of 3000rpm) the engine holds back for a couple of seconds then the power comes back. If you keep the accelerator down it will keep repeating this fault. It only does this under load and feels like a rev limiter cutting in/out, (but obviously not that). It has 128000 miles on the clock. Any ideas? would be muchly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Many thanks for your advice. I was thinking Turbo related too but was in denial. Do you know if this pressure check can be done at a general garage or will it be at a main dealer only? Should it be the turbo would you think it would be not advisable to buy a second hand turbo unit?
Thanks again!!!
Thanks again!!!
Thanks very much. I have also been advised that it could be the air flow mass sensor. Do you know of the probability of it being this? Aparently it's a common fault?
Thanks any advice is muchly appreciated.

Thanks very much, I will keep this in mind. Yesterday I took out the air mass sensor to retrieve the part number and while I was at it I cleaned it up a bit. Not sure until tomorrow, but I think it has cleared the fault for now. Or maybe wishful thinking ha?
Thanks for your time, much appreciated. Thanks alot!

The mass airflow is a common problem. Unpluging it will result in the ecm using a predetermined set of values for its input which should result in an engine that runs better with it unplugged.
