Default A4 AWM 1.8T Quattro Turbo

Ok, my baby has 106K miles on it and a wierd rumbling noise is coming from the rear. I had a local mechanic lift the car, turn the wheels and my rear driverside wheel bearing is bad. This guy is going to charge me $350 for parts and install. Is this a good price?

I also saw on ECS Tuning a wheel bearing kit for $55. Is this a difficult part to replace? I've never done it. Anyone here can help offer any suggestions?

Thanks!

$350 seems a smidge steep. Not aLOT, just a little, IMO. Depends on where you are, tho. If there's a small market for European cars where you live then it seems to be about right. If there is a moderate to large market for European cars, then he's a bit high, I think. Although, truthfully, wheel bearings are no more difficult on a Euro car than a Domestic, or Nipponese car, but, Euro service tends to run more, overall, so why shoule wheel-bearings be different?

If, I say OF you have teh proper tools it's not TOO difficult to replace teh wheel-bearings. W/O teh proper tools all you'd do is make it harder for someone WITH the proper tools to fix/clean-up your mess...

So, what are the right tools? I have a good deal of shop tools. I've never had to do a wheel bearing. Any suggestions as to the proper tools?

You will need a wheel bearing removal installation kit or a press. Also a hub puller. Along with the regular hand tools. If you remove the spindle you can usually find a shop in town that will press the bearing in and out for a small fee.
