I want to replace the chrome effect surround panel for a 2000 A4 automatic (the panel with the illuminated gear selections). I am able to free the old panel, but then I cannot get it over the gear stick because the slot is to small. Any suggestions on how I can do this? How do you remove the gear selector ****?

 

You have to pull the **** off. Theres usually a part of the bottom of the shifter that you need to slide down. Then bull the button on the shifter out and pull the **** off.
