I just bought a 1995 A6 wagon. I paid $200 for the car cause the guy could not get it into park, and the tranny shop was going to charge him $500 just to look at it. I told him I had 200 cash and he gave me the title. I took the plastic off the shifter part and undid the 4 allen screws and found a bunch of change that was stopping it from going in to park. Cleaned it out and it was like new. Put it in park and took the key out. I took it for a spin and I noticed that it was not shifting gears seems to be stuck in 2nd or 1st not sure. PLEASE I got a great deal on this car any help on what the problem could be or how to fix it so that it shifts. I mean this car is great all he windows work sun roof works original paint and no body rust or damage. Any help would be great if not. I really dont have to much time to spend on this car. Thanks again.

 

Sounds like its stuck in transmission limp mode (not sure if that happens on a 95) but to the dealer to have the TCM checked for fault codes. It may be something simple. You might wanna try dis-connecting the battery for 10 minutes to re-set the memory of the control modules.
