Default ABS Light

Address 03: ABS Brakes
Controller: 8E0 614 111 A
Component: ABS/EDS 5.3 QUATTRO D10
Coding: 0273004284
Shop #: BB 24334
1 Fault Found:
00287 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor: Rear Right (G44)
30-00 - Open or Short to B+

I pulled the wheel off, checked the sensor. Was pretty dirty so I cleaned it off. I cleared the code but it came back. Where does this sensor wire actually go from when it comes from under the car? Myabe there is some kind of loose connection there?

I took the car on a quickie 3 mile drive, light was still there. Maybe I have to disconnect the battery for a few minutes?

Nah its probably just the sensor, chase the wire, its not very long before you hit a connector.
Just replace it.
Un-less you have a VAG COM then you can look at all four wheel speed sensors while driving, if one of them isn't working correctly you know you need a new sensor.

I do have VAG. So pretty much just monitor my speeds while driving? I didnt see any immediate connectors underneath the car.

Yeah go to the brake electronics module and find the data block for the wheel speed sensors, should be somewhere between data blocks 1-5. You should see four 0's when your stopped. Start rolling and if one of them isn't EXACTLY the same as the other ones something is wrong with the sensor.
There should be a connector, some models are different, you'll have to see when they give you a new sensor.

Ive seen this problem before, I replaced the right rear sensor and it still wouldn't clear the codes. I had to replace the ABS Unit and that ended up clearing the code and the vehicle ABS system operated as designed.
