Anyone know what part this is under the hood? It's some sort of rubber tube that connects to the top of the engine.

It seems like the rubber would melt when touching the hot engine components.

That's a vacuum line, and it connects to your N249 valve. From the N249 valve there's another vacuum line which connects to your diverter valve. Is your only concern that it will "melt"?

I had the car serviced and the technician replaced this line. I have 2 concerns:

1) The old line wasn't rubber, but some some sort of line covered in a nylon casing. I feel like the technician used a cheaper part to replace it. That's why I'm concerned about melting.

2) The line used to be secured by a pipe fastener clamp. The technician didn't clamp the new line down to the valve. I can easily slip it on and off.

Should I be worries about either of these things?
