Hi, Ive got a 1989 Audi 80-E automatic, and Ive noticed there is a very annoying buzzing sound coming from the offside rear of the car, either the back door or side of boot, its not really loud, but its quite annoying, and just wandering if anyone could help me by letting me know what is could be, or whats causing it, there is a slight problem with the central locking, not sure if this could be connected with it buzzing noise, and the central locking only locks the front door, and not the back, but then the odd time the back doors will lock, but not that often, maybe its connected to this.....not sure, can anyone help? would really appreciate it if you could, thanks for your time.

 

eaither its fuel pump, or the vacuem pump.

 

yep im going for the fuel pump Bosh pumps are notorious for it buzzing that is

 

could that happen on both diesel and petrol? as mines a petrol.....?

 

well actually I was talking petrol/gas diesel is a different animal

 

The buzzing noise appears to be coming from the right side back door, maybe the side of the boot, and according to my 'haynes' manual, the fuel pump is attatched to the block at the front of the engine, so the sound is nowhere near that, and the vaccum pump is on the left hand side of the cylinder head, so i just cant seem to see if it is one of those 2 things, why is the noise on the other side of the car, maybe your right, just seems strange thou that the noise isnt coming from the engine.....any ideas?

 

your fuel pump "unless its a manual type" which I doubt is under the rear of the car near the fuel tank ( where the buzzing is coming from )

 

your fuel system is Bosh K jetronic

 

ok, well im doing this for me dad, hes gone to have a look then, so its under the fuel tank yeah? and yes its a automatic.
