Hello,
Has anyone had any experience with hooking up the iPhone to the factory iPod hookups? (I have an A3)

It would be nice if the audio worked, but I really only want the power and to not fry the phone.

I have an '07 A4 w/ dealer installed iPod. Works great w/ iPod, w/ 3G iPhone, the audio and controls work, but power does not. Hope this helps.

 

so your sying the iphones work with the hardware, but it doesnt charge while its plugged in..?

 

Correct, I plug the iphone in, and get a message on the iphone saying that it is not compatible, AND that it will not be charged. I am able to listen to music, my playlists work, and the steering controls work. The iphone does not charge. I called AoA and they directed me to this article:

At the bottom, it references the AMI (Audi Music Interface). I get this EXACT message, PLUS another one saying that the battery will not be charged. I have confirmed the phone does not charge. I am using the AMI, not a 3rd party connector, with an iphone 3G. Any help is appreciated. I am still researching it on my own, so if I find the answer, I will post it here.
