For the past 3 weeks I have noticed that when am at low speed and turn the steering wheel all the way left or right the car makes and clunk sound and its start jumping or skipping which ever you want to call it and the ESP turns on....when I turn the ESP off it does it less but it still does it? Anybody have any idea what i could be? the Center diff?

Kind of a rumbling sound/feel in teh steering wheel and front end? Low speed manuveurs, low frequency sound/feel? That's a "quattro" thing. Get used to it... Well, you never quite get used to it. At least I haven't, in more than 2 years of Audi ownership. But, it's starting to bother me, slightly less than it has for teh 1st two years. Maybe by 2010 I'll be able to let it go...

Oh, and, Ralph... GO PUT SOME CLOTHES ON!!! There are KIDS that click on here sometimes, fercryinoutloud!!!

 

Thanks for the answer AWDaholic but its the second Audi I own and its the first time its doing this. It does it at low speed when the torques is high and when I turn steering wheel all the way in one direction. The ESp kicks in right away and the car starts rocking back in forth....turn the ESp off and it still does it but less. Someone told me it might be the central slipdifferential....
I've had very bad luck with this car. After 2 yearthe 3 gear syncro wore out twice, a Xeon headlight went out and at the start off 2006 my turbo broke down....I've heard other people complaining about the S3 and having all sorts of problem.

Anyone had bad experiences?

Do you have aftermarket wheels? I've seen cases where for whatever reason the wheels did not fit correctly - e.g. too wide - and steering all the way in either direction actually caused the tire to come in contact with the car. This shouldn't be a problem, but it might be a good idea to check anyway.

high there just read your question about the car jumping and skipping my 2002 s3 was doing the same took it in audi they told me it was the rear diff gave me a price which was 1800 for the diff +900 pound to fit got a diff from ebay and fitted my self car know perfect any questions will be glad to help thanks craig
