b5 timing belt replacement

Default b5 timing belt replacement

I m wondering if any body has replaced there own timing belt. how much time it took and the difficultyof the project. any sites that have pictures andinfo would be great
I also heard that when doing you should replace water pumpan thermostat. any thing else you should replace while doing? your help would be much appreciated

It should take anywhere from 4-10 hours depending on your level of car intelligence.

heres the basic layout, put the raditor in service postiion and just pull it off, the whole front needs to come off to make it simple, then remove the serpintine belt and tensioners, get your $100 cam tool to hold the cams in place, loosen tensioner, pull off t-belt, replace water pump, thermostat, then put everything back, can be done but just BEWYOND being b!tch. better jsut loose maybe $700 and have a mechanic do it, that way if they mess up you get a new engine.
