Default bleeding coolant system

i have a 2000 A4 1.8t (ATW) i had a small coolant leak that i decided to take care of this weekend. it was leaking from the thermostat gasket so i changed the gasket, and used a little RTV to seal it as well. but now that i put it all back together and filled the coolant, i am trying to bleed out all the air bubbles and i cant get it. i pulled back the hose on the return side of the heater matrix and exposed the bleed hole. i lifted the resevoir high and filled it up and turned the heat on full blast but it just wont bleed right. when i lift up resevoir, coolant start coming out the bleed hole in a steady stream, which is normally when all the air is out and everything should be good. but its not. i then go back inside and the heat is still blowing cold air and the car keeps overheating as soon as i try to drive it. so what am i missing? i have been trying to get the air out for 2 days now and its just not working. last time i drained the coolant system on this car, the air bubbles blead out with no problems at all, this time not so much. any help would be great...and the quicker, the better...as i need my car to work monday morning

Default RE: bleeding coolant system

There might be a blockage in the cooling system or the water pump
may be shot. The thermostat could be bad.
