Bose stereo sound 'ghost'
Hi! I think I have a ghost at the volume controls of my 04 A4 Turbo Bose stereo. It appears to only happen when I am traveling speeds above about 45 miles per hour. It does this no matter the function - radio or cd player. There are no other problems and there are no strange noises. Can anyone help with a suggestion or do I need to take this to the dealership before the warranty expires? And does the warranty cover problems with the stereo? Mileage is 30,000. I also made the mistake of taking my car through one of those auto cloth washers yesterday and now I hear a 'soft popping' sound(regular 3 second intervals) on the right rear of the car - close to the gas tank. You can hear it better from the interior of the car. It is inconsistent and goes away, but it started after the underside of the car got a good blasting. Could this be a faulty fuel pump sensor thingy that is not related to the car wash, just a coincidence? I should never have listened to my boyfriend and let them run it through. Believe it or not, I prefer to hand wash my vehicles.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Read the owners manual about the radio, It will automatically change the volume level to compete with road noise. I know the option can be turned off, forget how....but it tells you in the manual and all about the feature.
Hi, Premiumoats. I have a 2004 Audi A4 3.0, with the Bose stereo and have had the same problem for 3 years now. While listening to the stereo at low volume, the volume fluctuates like mad. At higher volume it's fine.
There is a feature on the stereo called 'Speed Volume Control' (SVC). You need to hold the 'menu' button down for 2-3 seconds to access this, and it will prompt you to set the SVC to your liking, or to 'off'. The original stereo my car came with was mysteriously missing this feature, despite it being in the manual. Naturally, I presumed this was the problem (that I couldn't turn it off).
So, just last week Audi finally believed me (for 3 years they couldn't seem to duplicate the problem) and replaced my stereo. The feature is now available, but guess what? I turned it off, and the effing volume still fluctuates!! Just for fun, I set it to 5, then to 10, and everything else in between, and nothing works! I even played with the 'Max Volume' settings (the feature that comes after SVC) which shouldn't even have any bearing on it, and of course, it has no effect. If you've since found a solution, please let me know.
