Default Bose Symphony subwoofer question

i have a b5 s4 and i had a quick question about the stock subwoofer. i'm pretty sure its an 8" bose subwoofer (correct me if i'm wrong) and the system as a whole sounds great. however, i would like to push a little bit more bass. i dont want the box in the trunk and i dont want the loud crazy bass that can be heard coming down the road. just something that will hit a little bit harder without distorting the component speakers too much. my question is...is there any subwoofer i can buy that will fit in the place that the current one is, i.e. so i dont have to cut any new holes or alter anything. i was thinking a rockford fosgate or JL. i've had rockfords before and i loved them (until they were stolen). so anyways, thanks in advance for any help...
