Default Brake Disk Installation

I'm putting new disks on the rear of my 94' 90s (hint: have propane torch to heat or you will never get off) and now I'm finding it near impossible to spread the calipers to allow for the pads to fit over the new disk.

Is there something with the ABS models that requires a special technique? I have done this on many cars/bikes by gently prying the calipers apart. Does not budge on this car. The brakes were not dragging before.

Is there a check valve and I need to bleed them to spread them?

Yes they have a cable parking brake, but even with cables disconnected I cannot compress the piston. I probably need a piston tool
