Default Car sat for 5 months....Horrible accel + performance?!?!?

I blew my cars timing belt in october and i didnt have the funds to get the valves and the head fixed. I got them done in march and right after i got them done , the car has horrible acceleration and no boost. It sat for about 5 months , then got fixed and now it is horrible. My mechanic said he checked the engine and the pressure in the engine and everything seems fine. What could be the problem? It has extremely horrible acceleration. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

would a mechanic have to take it apart to find out if the timing is bad or does a computer checkup show codes if the timings off?

Have you tried changing the gas? 5 months seems like a long time for gasoline to sit in a tank
