Default Check Engine Light related to brakes?

2005.5 A4 2.0T quattro, 70k miles

My check engine light came on a week back and I haven't had a chance to get it checked out yet at the dealer. In the mean time, I had my car in this morning to a local tire/brakes place for some rear brake repairs- they have been squeaking for a while.

The brake place fully inspected the brakes, but concluded that the calipers needed replacement and were unable to perform the work right away because of parts unavailability.

When I drove out of their parking lot without any work performed other than an inspection, I noticed the CEL had turned off, which surprised me since I didn't expect it to have anything to do with the brakes.

Is there some reason to believe the CEL light being on was anomalous and the brake inspection actually indirectly fixed it? Seems very coincidental otherwise.

Thanks for any input. N

the CEL can be lit by a brake problem, sorta. The Vacuum Brake booster is connected to the PCV, so if there is a vacuum problem it can affect the brakes.
