I dont want to use a 250 buck vag come only ones, so I would like to know what data stream type is our cars. Particullary mine. and if posible the order of info. like RPM, temp, ign, etc.... that I would get from desifering the data stream.

Your probably asking in the wrong forumn. Now body here has the ability to decode(a good chunk of the datas encoded) and then decompress the data to find out exactly what it means. Thats why everyone uses some sort of aftermarket scan tool.

then I just make a vag cable out of CAT 5 wire and use freeware program from roos tech, that should be enough

 

Im sure everyone here would be interested in a writeup on how to make theyre own cable. Or even a place to buy them from our resident computer expert. Just a thought, if you find the extra time.

get cat 5 cable splice some, and I will test as say. later on.

EDIT wow links actually work well anywho I never tried them but gona build the vag com just becouse I'm cheap and have nothing to do at home, nobody to scream at me, not married. Oh welll

 

Let us know how your project goes. I think it would be kinda fun to build my own Vag-com.
