Front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive?

Please explain why you prefer one rather than the other in dry/wet/snow weather.

 

FWD clearly has an advantage in wet and snow.

There are two opposing schools that have compelling arguments for both drives in the dry, though. I haven't made up my mind as to which drive I think is better in the dry. I guess a lot depends on the application and the terrain.

 

Duh rear wheel drive Because its more fun to take corners with they tail of the car right next to you and the steering at oposite lock

 

I've always been a big fan of American muscle, so naturally I have to vote for RWD. Although I do agree with ImolaS4 that there are a variety of advantages to each, and that both could perform just as well as the other when given proper tuning, but it's just so satisfying to do massive donuts![8D]

 

Fwd for sure in snow/wet. But who doesn't like to feel the rear kick around in a rwd car,heck my dad has a lincoln ls right now and that thing is even fun to corner and its like a luxury car.

 

I'd have to say RWD on dry pavement, and even in rain. As for snow though, FWD. Of course, I'd take AWD on anything, wet, dry, snow, whatever.

 

lol this post is funny in an audi forum whereas most Audis are AWD and that solves the proble of choosing between each.

 

This is true!! Why wasn't AWD one of the options?

 

I think echo wants to force an opinion out of us since we are so spoiled with the AWD. Why should I choose when I can just spin all the wheels?![8D]

 

Including any reference to AWD would have made the original question redundant, so I deliberately excluded the possibility.

You may like to know that I placed my original question on Audi, BMW, MB and Saab forums and most of you were quite happy to consider both arguments.

In the case of adverse weather/road conditions, I get the distinct impression that FWD is the better option.
