Does anyone have experience replacing o2sesor on a 3.0L A4?

Default Does anyone have experience replacing o2sesor on a 3.0L A4?

Check engine light is on. A guy in autozoneread the error code for me and said it's P0050 (bank2 sensor1). I heard from a local Audi dealer thatit will cost at least $800,and decided to give it a try by myself first.

I took a look at the engine and found there arealtogether 4 oxygen sensors in 2 pairs. One pair is at passager side while theother one is at driver side. The2 sensors withineach pair areclose to each other (correct me ifanything wrong). But both of them are hard to reach, I can barely see and touch them.And it's not clear to me how the sensors are wired.Did anyone have experience replacing o2sesor on a 3.0L A4?Does it require any special tools to do it?

P.S. The car is a 2003 A4 Quattro 3.0L

The 3.0L is the hardest engine to change O2 sensors on, i highly don't recommend trying to replace an before cat O2 sensor if you don't have some serious time on your hands.
First off you need a reallydeep O2 sensor socket $100(the heat shield blocks access for anything else) On top of that its at an angle that you can't get the socket in there even if you wanted to, you would have to loosen the subframe to gain access to the cat bolts and loosen the cat from the head to get an acceptable angle. Again this is why i don't think you should attempt this, that and the 3.0L is an extremely hard engine to work on, even for a professional.

completely agree....

pre-cat sensors on this engine are extremely hard... i have a specially made tool and i still hate it...

emission parts warrantyare if i am correct 8 years 80,000 miles.... i'd check to see if your covered before trying anything.
