Does MAF Cause misfires??? Need Help!!!
CAn A bad MAF cause misfires... I have just got my clutch done and when it came back it started to idle funny and then my cel came on and i took it to autozone to get i diagnosed it and it said that cylinders 1 2 and 4 are misfiring and system is running lean any help would be apprecaited. i have a 01 a4 1.8t quattro
Its possible but not likely. Is the engine actually misfiring, running bad with very poor acceleration. The lean code could be a maf but is most likly a vacuum leak. Misfires have been covered in to great extent on this site but multiple misfires are uncommon on the 1.8. Find out what cylinders its actually misfiring on by checking value blocks.
I took the car up to my car meet and somebody there had a vag-com so we tested it. came out take clinders1,2,4 were misfiring. then we disconnected the MAF and started it back up and found out that everything was working fine no misfires and my power is back. So i got a new one from the dealer and installed it but when i start the car it will start and then shut off. i am going to exchange it tomarrow at the dealer to see if it could be a bad MAF. is there another reaon it will do that???
Were you getting active misfires on all three cylinders? Because a 1.8 will barely run if at all on 1 cylinder. If thats the case start with the basics. Air, fuel, spark. Dont forget that you need compression.
Well im having the same problem....im throwing 1237,1238,1239 codes, and the car is only running 77% throttle...... the car doesnt feel like its boosting at all......do you think that the maf will be doing this or what do you think?
yeah....just feels like it has not power, and i cant feel the turbo spool up.....i dont know what to do......i go a new filter and spark plugs....what do you think?
