Default Drive Axle

Yeah last night I went to do a U-Turn and all of a sudden i hear a pop and lose all acceleration. I looked at the car and the driver's side front axle seemed to have torn and poped out??? Any suggestions or anything to repair this???

Its kinda hard to tell exactly what broke with the explaination you gave but it sounds like you need either a new inner or outter cv joint.

yeah I believe its the outer cv joint...I can see where it was ripped, and where grease is everywhere. Has anyone replaced this, if so how hard would it be?

drive axles are fairly easy to replace if you have the book and tools, the right is supposed to be the easier one.if you take it s-where,the one thing you do not want to do is have them rebuild part of yours.they usually dont do both ends and charge more than what a complete reman. one would cost.get the whole new axle, about 100 dollars for part alone, because the people that reman them do just that all day long.

late reply,it might stop power distribution if it notices an excess of free spin, and you only have 2 wheels that are forced to turn,is it completely out and fallen,is it auto or manual.

manual, the joint is almost completly seperated from the wheel. Like when I turn the car on I hear a constant thud noise ( which is the joint spining) and I can see it as well because the rubber seal is torn

In a fwd vehicle a broken drivshaft would result in no movement from the vehicle. The differential is an open style so it will sent all power to the side with least resistance. So in your case all the power is transfered to the broken side and the good side is recieving no power. You should be able to see the axle spining under the car. If the axle isnt spinning there may be something broken inside the trans itself.
