You need to get the fault codes. Go to any Napa, Autozone or similar shops, they will lend you their OBD scanner for free. Check the codes and report back what you find. Chances are you may be experiencing the cam follower problem. Have you ever had it checked? On my 2006 with 100k miles it had worn through the cam follower and then started to eat the fuel pump plunger. Thankfully Audi repaired it under extended warranty at no cost to me.
