got a CEL today p0012-cam position actuator bank 1 timing over-retard. i cleaned out the cam position sensor and the CEL went away for a while but afer the car sat for about 2 hours and it was restarted the CEL came back along with the same code. What is there to check next....am i looking at a $1000 dealer service or can i do it myself?

 

You might have an independent mechanic check it.
The cam sensor could be bad.
