Default Fit iPad mini in 2009 A6

Hi all,

I've been looking at fitting an iPad mini in my 2009 Audi A6. I haven't disassembled the dash or anything (yet, anyway), but I was hoping it was possible to fit the iPad over the existing screen (and just leave it in there so I can still use the radio, handsfree and such).

The iPad mini almost fits in the double DIN, so I guess I have to cut, plaster, sand down and paint the dashboard that's surrounding the screen.

Have any of you guys any idea if the iPad mini would fit at all? It looks like there is room in there, but since I haven't taken things apart I don't know for sure.

I've got the AMI connector in the glove compartment, so it would be nice to get the iPad mini connected to that as well, so I get sound out of the car speakers. Also it'll charge the iPad of course.

Any insight highly appreciated. And let's not bring up the discussion of why I'm not fitting a Nexus or something else in there, I want the iPad mini

Thanks,

Sounds like a terrible idea. Spend time and money on more useful things. Really gonna go to all that work to cover up a great MMI with a tacky looking iPad? Seems stupid and pointless to me but to each their own I guess. Have fun with that!

It's helping you by telling you not to destroy the gorgeous interior on a nice car.

Well I didn't ask for your opinion on how it would look now did I. I asked if anyone had any idea if the iPad mini would fit. Stop wasting everybodys time.

Well I bet no one does have an idea because no one else would be dumb enough to do this.

Cheers!
