Default Fuel mileage readout

My remaining fuel mileage readout is on the fritz, i can have a quarter tank and it will jump from say, 200mpg->15mpg->169mpg-> then it will go blank and show (- - -). This is the second time this has happened, and supposedly had it "fixed" before but to no avail... Is there anything i can do to fix this problem. Or should i just bring it back to the audi dealer and have them "fix" it again??

Are you reading instantaneous mpg?

Agree. If you let off the throttle completely it reads --- because there is no gas being used when you have your foot off the throttle above a certain RPM; the car just turns into, essentially, a giant air pump.

Switch your display to show the mileage left (the one with the little gas icon) and you won't see this anymore.

Turn it off and don't look at it anymore. Its not figuring correct mileage anyway. And thats all an engine really is. A big air pump...

Good Luck...
