How to diagnose an oil leak properly?
Got a 2001 s4 that has sprung a pretty serious oil leak (.7 quart/week) that need attention. I got underneath and cleaned it all off with a couple cans of brake-clean last week. I thought I could get under this week and see where, but the oil is everywhere from the wind/fan. It got really bad after I change the oil a couple weeks ago, understandably. No black/white smoke... so I pray it's a loose fitting or old hose.
I was going to rip off the front end and just look around the turbo area (it's NOT the head gasket), but I was told that I should call up my Mechanic and ask him to put it on the lift, after I brake-clean it again down the street from him--- and maybe it can run on the lift for a bit, and the oil will start seeping out.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks & Happy Easter.
