Default Idle and throttle issues.

Hi, I have a problem with the car being unable to keep a low idle, stabilizing the throttle and among other things.

Audi a6, 1996
V6, 2.6 L
About 270K km
Automatic gearbox

First of all, this doesn't happen all the time, sometimes when I start the car, it runs completely fine, just like it should. But other times it doesn,t and the following problems occur.

1. High idle, about 1400 RPM
2. Slight touch of the throttle causes ridiculous reaction. Goes up to about 2400, down to 1500 and up to 1800, and back to 1400.
3. Nudging when I let go of the throttle, doesn't slow down smoothly.
4. Unstable when rolling down a hill, doesn't slow down smoothly, kinda throttles by itself a little bit.

I'm thinking it might be the Idle control valve or throttle stabilizer.

But before I go ahead and buy a new one, I'd like some input.

PS: Spark plugs are new.

Thank you,

Stefan.

My problem doesn't stop until I stop and start the car until it runs correct again.

Meaning it happens even if it's hot.
