Sure it is possible. What vehical and year are you talking about though? Some cars have an immobilizer that requires programming from the dealship. Others like early model A4's you can just buy the used key remote off ebay and program yourself easily.

Default RE: Key reprogramming

I have a '99 A4 Avant, I bought it "pre-owned" (privately -- not from a dealer) and it only came with a valet key. I ordered two new key FOBs from my mechanic, who ordered them for me (by VIN number) and they arrived yesterday. He tried to program them yesterday to get the lock/unlock/trunk buttons to work, but for some reason they wouldn't program.

I searched online here and found Jestnomen's directions, but I couldn't get them to work either when I got home. These are the directions I used : https://www.audiforums.com/m_18741/m...y/tm.htm#18741

Should I be using the valet key in the ignition when I am trying to program a FOB or should I be using the other uncoded remote FOB? I have a valet key, and two non-coded remote FOBs.

The lights on my car did flash when I pressed the "Unlock" button on the FOB so I think the remote sensor on the car is OK. But the process (as described in the link above) didn't work.

Note -- I don't think my car has an immobilizer, so that shouldn't be the issue, right?

Any ideas anyone??

Thanks in advance.
