Just bought an Audi A4 Quatro 1.8T(1999).

When you start the car you get a chime for 30 seconds. First thought it was a seat belt chime but I have my seat belt on.

The other sound is a continuous sound when you turn the headlights on. Again this sound goes for 30 seconds and is extremely annoying when driving at night.

Anyone know what these sounds are and if there is a way to turn them off?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

The chimes are probably occureing because the vehicle thinks there is a door open. You propbably have a failed door latch somewhere. Most likely is the drivers door.

 

Is there an easy fix for this? Like a switch that I could replace or heck...is there even a wire or something that I could disconnect to stop the sound. I would prefer a fix but I just don't want to hear that sound anymore, its driving me nuts.
