99 A6 Avant Q with 2.8. Starts and runs relatively well, a couple of CEL's here and there but not sure what they are. The problem is, after filling with fuel, the car is very hard to start. It will crank for about 10 seconds and then sputter and die. Then after two ar three episodes it will finally start and run fine day after day until I fill it back up with fuel. Cap is fine and always replaced correctly-- any ideas??

Fuel cap maybe on correctly, but if it no longer holds the fuel pressure (leaks) this could be part of your problem. You maybe able to go to AutoZone or the like and have the error codes decoded which may shed some light on the subject.

You need to check the N80 purge valve this is almost always the problem
