So this has been an ongoing problem with my car. It started up a few weeks ago and now is off and on. it started out with clicking in the left rear of my car, then it escalated to louder and louder clanking or thumping. So i took it to les schwab and they said they tightened some loose controal arm bolt or something like that. The problem seemed fixed for a few days then it came back slowly but not as bad. It sounds pretty bad, and i brought it back to the shop and he doesn't know what the problem is and that it depends on how much money I'd want to throw at my car because he'd just be guessing from there. The noise goes clanks faster as the car rolls faster, like something is getting hit as it rolls.
Any ideas? please help

 

Hi mate, by what your saying, a good guess would be the wheel bearings, I think I know what kind of sounds you are talking about, from my experience, I think the wheel bearings maybe shot... couple Hundred to fix, no biggie.. just a guess though.. hope it helps

 

either the wheel bearing or from the clanking clicking noise you say it may be the rear cv joint is shot. check to see if the cv boot is torn or if theres grease everywhere, also try shaking the wheel at 9 and 3 and again at 12 and 6, if theres play then its the wheel bearing.
