Need help with Power Steering

Well I had taken it to Audi in Concord, biggest ****** ever, and they said

"You have a blown pump and you need a new steering rack because when the pump died it sent metal flakes though out the power steering system and that as a precaution you should have the rack replaced."

I later that day called Livermore Audi where I told them what had happened. The head of the service department then said,

“Hmm, that’s odd. I don’t know why they would have you put in a new rack. I’ve worked here for many years and I’ve never seen those power steering pumps put out flakes. But we can check it out for you.”

I think Concord was trying to rip me off. Oh and their price for replacing just the pump wasn’t $120 more than at Livermore or anything… Those ********.

So I don’t know, I think I’m going to replace the pump and see what happens.

yh right I never had to change a rack because of a bad pump, after all your going to flush the system with new fluid so any srap will be flushed with it

so those lovely young gentleman at Concord Audi were most likely lying?

*paintball gun hoppers are being filled as we speak/read/type*
