RE: new to audi
Good question?
I do not know!..........so I cant answer to what is referred as "the carriage out" but generally, to remove the torque converter, one must part the engine from the transmission as the torque converter is between both.
It's easier to drop the transmission out than to remove the engine and tranny together, so what the dealer was likely referring to was those appendages, IE: "carriage" items needing to be removed to gain access to remove the transmission in order to switch-out the torque converter.
I would have wondered more as to why the torque converter needed to be out?
Also, why do you love your new Audi so much? What is it that impresses you the most?
