Default New Audi Owner, Please help!!

I just bought a 2002 A6 3.0 Quattro.
The horn and the headlight warning sound is not working. Are they connected?
The horn doesn't work. Though, it does click, like it's engaging a switch, it doesn't make any "horn noise". Also, I just noticed the fact the there is no warning sound when the headlights are left on. The manual says there should be.

I've looked through the fuses, and they all look good. Are all these functions connected somehow? Might it be a relay? Which one? How do I change it?

I'd appreciate any help.

Cheers,
Marc

Probably not.
Both horns have probably gone bad. The clicking means the switch is operating the relay. So neither of those are the culprit.

As for the headlight warning sound, that is a function of the instrument cluster. It may be a bad input to the cluster or a failed buzzer in the cluster.

Thanks for the info. It helps greatly!

The "little horn" works when I arm the alarm and press the panic button, but the big one is out of commission. So, I hear I'll need to remove the bumper to get at it. True?

And, do you happen to know how I get into the cluster to check buzzer and/or input for the headlight warning sound.

Cheers,
Marc

the 2 horns work together to produce the tone. if the lock horn(arming) works, both horns are working.prob. is something else i bet.

Ok, thanks!
It seems that only one horn sounds, the locking horn, and it just beeps from the back left portion of the car when the car is armed and when it's perimeter alarm sounds. I imagine that the main horn is out of commission for some reason. Do I need to remove the bumper to replace it?

And, do you happen to know how I get into the instrument cluster to check the buzzer and/or input for the headlight warning sound?

Any help is great! Thanks much!

Cheers,
Marc
