Default new style headlights appear?

I drive a 1998 A4 Quattro and have the old style headlights - the ones that have the glass that isn't that clear. I see that the A4 was updated and new headlights (the clear ones) were added. I wopuld like to modernise my car a lttle and get the new look lights however I don't know what year from I need - is it 1999? I have been on eBay and seen aftermarket ones for £199 but if I could go to a breakers and get a pair for cheaper it would be best! However I don't know what year to ask for

Cheers in advance

what youre looking for is either 99.5-2001 (yes .5 ) american A4 headlights, or european ecodes (stock A4 headlights in europe). if you have the money, i'd go for ecodes, if not, i really like the look of the american's when the amber lense is removed. jest will hopefully chime in with a pic comparing the two... at least i think it was him with that pic...
