Default P0442 evap emission control system small leak

98 A6 AWD 2.8 30V, car wouldn't start, sounds like it wants to but it don't. Checked for codes, P0442 came up. Where do I start or what could it possibly be?

The evap system code is most likly not related to the problem. You probably have some carbon buildup on the valves. Could also be a coolant temp sensor. Try starting it with the gas pedal pushed all the way in. It may take 3 or 4 15-30 second cranks to get going but it should start.

Its possible its flooded, so pull a plug to see if it is wet or hold pedal down and try starting(as stated above). If that doesnt work take the fuel feed line off and have a buddy crank the car to see if any fuel comes out. A bad fuel pump will also do the same thing as you say. good luck.
